Apply for the visa for Bali
If you are travelling to Bali or another Indonesian island, you must first apply for a visa. Fortunately, it is possible to apply for an Indonesian visa through an online application form. It's very simple, and it will only take a couple of minutes. Once approved, you will receive your visa by email.
Do I need to apply for a visa for Bali?
British travellers, and nationals of European Union countries must have a valid visa during their stay in Bali. The easiest way to comply with the visa requirement is to apply for an e-visa. The Bali visa, also called Indonesia e-visa, can easily be applied for online via this website. The visa price is £64,95. The visa is normally approved in 7 days on average.
What do I need to apply for the Bali visa?
In order to apply for an Indonesia visa, you will need the following:
- The passport information of all the travellers for whom you wish to submit an application
- The ability to pay online
- The following documents:(passport photo, passport scan, return flight confirmation)
Your application will only be processed once you have submitted all the information, the payment has been made, and the necessary documents have been provided. It's not a problem if you don't have all the documents yet. If you have filled in all your passport and travel details and the payment has been made, your visa application will be registered. You may submit the rest of the documents later. Please note, however, that the average processing time is 7 days. The processing starts only when all the documents have been submitted correctly. If you need your visa urgently, you can always submit an urgent application. For this, you will need to pay a small surcharge of £17,50. Urgent applications are usually processed within 24 hours on average.
Your visa application will be processed as soon as you have completed the application form, paid the fee and submitted all the required documents.
Visa requirements
To be eligible for the Bali visa you need to fullfill a series of requiments. Firstly, applicants must have a passport allowing them to apply for an e-visa. If you are a national of an European Union country, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or Norway, you may apply for the Indonesia e-visa. Don't forget to check your passport's validity period, as it must have a residual validity of at least 6 months on the day you will leave Indonesia. Apply for a new passport as soon as possible if your current one is about to expire. If you have used an old passport to apply for your Indonesian visa, you will need apply for a new visa. Visas are always linked to the passport number.
Arrival location
The e-visa only allows you to arrive at certain locations designated by the Indonesian immigration services. These include 16 airports, 11 border crossings and 95 seaports. The e-visa also allows you to arrive in Bali. You can arrive at Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar, or at the ports of Benoa (Denpasar), Celukan Bawang (Singaraja) or Padang Bai (Singaraja).
Reason for travel to Bali
When filling in the e-visa application form, you must select a reason for travel. You can only apply for a visa if your trip falls into one of the following categories:
- Tourism
- Visiting friends or family
- Stopover
- Business trip (please note that you are not allowed to work for Indonesian organisations)
If you have the intention to travel to Indonesia to work or study, you shouldn't apply for an e-visa. Instead, you should apply for another type of visa at the embassy. The e-visa is suitable if your travel purpose appears in the list above. This will spare you from making an appointment at the Indonesian embassy, which takes a lot of time and effort. Furthermore, the e-visa is a cheaper option than the visa applied for at the embassy.
Validity period of the visa
The e-visa that you can apply for via this website has a validity period of 90 days and allows a stay of a maximum of 30 days. This means that once the visa is approved you will have 90 days to travel to Bali or any other Indonesian island. Once you are in the country, you will be able to stay for 30 days. You may extend your stay in the country if you wish, for 30 more days, and only once. In this way, you may stay in the country for up to 60 days at the most. In order to apply for the visa extension, you will need to go Denpasar, Singaraja or the airport. The Indonesia e-visa allows you to travel to the country only once. If you travel to a neighbouring country and you go back to Indonesia, you will need to apply for a new visa.
