Indonesia visa

All you need to know about the Indonesia visa

A visa is required in most cases to travel to Bali or to any of the other islands in Indonesia. Currently, you can easily apply for an e-visa, which means it is no longer necessary to make an appointment at the embassy or the consulate. You can apply for your visa via e-Visa-Indonesia.co.uk in just a few minutes.

Do I need a visa for Indonesia from as a UK citizen?

You will need to apply for an Indonesia visa if you are a national of the United Kingdom, an EU country, Switzerland or Norway. Only nationals of the ASEAN countries (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) like Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, or Brazil, Colombia, Hong Kong, East Timor, Suriname and Turkey may travel to Indonesia without a visa.

Fortunately, most travellers can easily apply online for the electronic visa offered by the immigration services since 2022. Going through this simple digital application procedure takes less time than applying through the embassy.

You are not required to apply for an Indonesia visa if you are only transiting in the country. Bear in mind, that in this case you will not be allowed to leave the airport transit area. If you need to leave the transit area during your stopover to check-in your luggage again, for example, you will need to apply for a visa.

What does the visa allow?

The electronic visa allows to travel for tourism or to visit family and friends, as well as other activities like making a stopover, meeting with business partners, or visiting trade fairs and exhibitions.

If you are travelling to Indonesia for work you should know that the e-visa does not allow you to work for Indonesian companies, nor receive any kind of remuneration from Indonesian organisations. It is not permitted either to sell products or services, nor participate as a speaker at events. If you wish to work in Indonesia, you will need to apply for another type of visa than the e-visa. For more information, check the page about the e-visa requirements.

The e-visa allows you to travel on business, but not to work in Indonesia or sell products or services.

How long can I stay in Indonesia?

The e-visa allows you to stay in Indonesia for 30 days. If you need to stay longer, you will need to extend your visa for an additional 30 days up to a maximum total of 60 days. However, you can do this only once. You will need to go to an immigration office for this. Find out more about the validity period of the Indonesia visa.

Applying for the visa at the embassy

You can also apply for an Indonesian visa directly at the embassy. However, you will probably have to suffer long waiting times and go through complicated procedures. If you are making a short trip to Indonesia, you'd better apply for your e-visa through e-Visa-Indonesia.co.uk and save time and effort. You can fill out the application form in just a few minutes. You will receive your visa by email in 7 days on average.
